I haven’t owned an activity tracker since my first-generation Jawbone Up failed long, long ago. In that time, I’ve been following developments in the wearable technology space. I had some value accrued in the form of a Best Buy certificate, so when I noticed that the Misfit Shine (~$50, Amazon.com) was on sale, I bit.
The Misfit Shine tracks the wearer’s activity and sleep. I liked that it was billed as being waterproof up to 50 meters for swimming, and the advertised battery life of 6 months on a single CR2032 beats fiddling with chargers that can be all-too-easily left behind. It syncs with the Misfit app (available for iOS, Android, and Windows phones) through Bluetooth.
In November 2015, the company released the Misfit Shine 2 (~$100, Amazon.com). You can check out the micro-site at Misfit.com. The newer model comes with a plethora of cool new features. As always, you support my website when you make your purchases through Amazon.com
