Coffee preparation has become a new hobby of mine, one with infinitely enjoyable results, though I’ve always been a coffee drinker at some level. Fresh roasted beans make all the difference. I purchase about 1/3 lb of coffee a week for personal consumption, drinking a cup every morning.
From roasted bean to cup, here are the tools that I use:
Grinding: Braun KSM-2. A classic. For a brief time, I used a Cuisinart DBM-8, but it was kind of a PITA.
Brewing: Aeropress Coffee & Espresso Maker (~$25, Amazon.com). Easy to use, durable, and produces an excellent cup.
Vacuvin storage container (~$20, Amazon.com). This thing is pretty awesome. I chose Vacuvin because of my positive experience with their wine stopper system.
